Our History
Mission Street Arts was established in 2017 in memory of Mike Murphy by family and friends. Mike Murphy was a long time academic, writer, tai chi enthusiast, stone carver, and block printer. He spent many years as a professor at the University of Texas, as well as studying and livingĀ in the Middle East. He visited Jemez Springs throughout his life to enjoy the hot springs, visit the Zen Center and study stone carving with Rollie Grambois and other carving artists before making Jemez Springs his home in 2001.
